Donna, did you know there is a parade in Danville this weekend and they are doing a float about users of the LVRT ?

Please contact Keith at the town of Danville for questions. Cindy Locke is out of town; please don’t contact her.

Does someone monitor this website ?

    Thanks

    Cyndy / VAST

It was sad to see graffiti on the bridge between Hyde Park and Johnson today. Up until now it seemed people were respecting the trail. I’m sure there is no single answer to avoiding vandalism like this, but I do have a suggestion that might be one component of a more comprehensive plan. I was a trail ambassador on the Schuylkill River Trail in Pennsylvania. We were volunteers who used the trail. We kept an eye on things, passing info on to the local police departments when we saw vandalism or other issues. We were a safety presence for some. We educated folks on trail etiquette, trail rules and laws and safety. I bicycled a fairly substantial length of the trail near my home. I snapped photos of private property vandalism, broken glass, vandalized bollards, trail damage, etc. I rode along with a walker who was uneasy about being alone on the trail. I reminded cyclists about child helmet laws, heeding trail closures, and more. If anyone would like to discuss such a program for the LVRT, I would be happy to meet with them.

We would like to ride from West Danville to Saint Johnsbury but not a two-way trip. Do you know if there’s anyone who can transport bicycles and people from one end of the trail to the other for a fee? We would also like to stay overnight at one end of the trail or the other. We can find places to stay but no idea about transportation. I expect this will happen in other sections of the trail that exist now and in the future. We found this kind of shuttle Service when we hike the long trail.

Hi there! We have a cycling charity event coming up in August and I was wondering if it was applicable to get posted to your event calendar. Below is the information:

Riding options include 100-, 50-, and 25- mile road rides and a 20- and 10-mile trail bike ride. New this year, the Point to Point includes a half marathon.
