The Friends of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (FLVRT) need your help. There are several openings on the Board of Directors and we would love to hear from individuals interested in furthering the goals of the organization. Interested individuals may contact Donna Higgons, President by emailing a letter of intention outlining your interests and experience to email@example.com.
The FLVRT is a 501c3 organization dedicated to supporting non-motorized users of the trail working in partnership with VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) and its trail construction committee, the LVRTCommittee.
Now that portions of the long-awaited trail are or will soon be completed and officially open to the public, there’s a long list of tasks the Friends are addressing to make sure we all can use this trail for many years to come. Among these tasks are: establishing trail crews for monitoring the trail’s physical needs; promotions to bring bikers, skiers, runners and other non-motorized users to northern Vermont; working with communities and trail committees to develop and maintain trailheads.
We are also looking for an individual with computer skills to keep a new web site up-to-date and perform minor, periodic office duties. This person does not necessarily have to be a Board member or attend meetings, although welcome to do so.
But more than anything, we are looking for people with ideas and the energy and commitment to work collaboratively to implement and follow through on those ideas.
Open meetings are held very third Thursday of the month, currently in the offices of Polow, Polow and Mahoney Law Office in Hyde Park Village but will eventually move to communities along the 93-mile trail corridor to ensure local participation. September’s meeting, however, will be held on the 24th due to member conflicts. You are welcome to attend.
